Find your why... just do it.

What are you doing it for?

How is it helping you to be fulfilled?

Who is it impacting?

How are you challenging yourself?

What are you good at?

These are just some of the questions that I ask myself several times a year as I reflect on my personal and business goals. Are you asking yourself similar questions?

What is a why statement and why do I need one?

I see what you did there. A "why for a why".

A why statement is a statement that helps you to ground yourself in your purpose, your beliefs, and your direction in life. A why statement helps to guide you in your decision-making and gives you a metric for fulfillment and success. Without a why statement, how do you know where you're headed and when you've arrived? How do you know you're presenting the best version of yourself to the world and working to leave the world better than you found it? How do you know that you're truly happy?

Why is it that you do what you do how you do it?

My professional why statement:

To support local community organizations and social entrepreneurs with organizational management and growth so that I can play my part in helping my community to thrive and expand productively!

How do I create one?

Just start! Start by asking yourself the questions I have listed above. Complete the following statement:

To ____________ so that ______________.

To = Your contribution

So that = Your impact

Be kind to yourself and don't rush this process. Think about creating a statement for your personal life and your professional life. Don't box yourself in or think too small. Know that a why statement is something that can constantly evolve and something that you should revisit often.

Having a why statement can help to push you on days that seem tougher or don't quite make sense. It helps you to define so much of who you are and what you do. Create a why statement and put it somewhere that will allow you to see it often. Share it with someone for some accountability and support.

There are so many reasons why a why statement is relevant to everyone. Just do it. 💗
